Peking to Paris

A collection of poems by Piet Devos

Peking to Paris

Intro

A collection of poems with a special story.

Other printers were unwilling to make room for such a small project, or at least not fast enough. An edition of 75 copies, with a tight deadline. The author of the book had eye cancer and only a few weeks left to live. His father Gie wanted to give his son one last gift: his poems, bundled in a book. When Gie walked into INNI group and our account manager Jo listened to his story, there was an immediate click. Everything was done to finish this life's work on time. Jo helped them get the book ready for printing at breakneck speed and space was immediately made in production.

About the author

Piet Devos was a writer, translator and literary scholar. He went blind at the age of five, something he himself considered a positive turning point in his life. All other senses were sharpened and his ability to concentrate increased. His dual experience of seeing and not seeing raised questions about perception that would make him think and write about later in life. He researched it, wrote about it and gave presentations as a guest speaker or lecturer.

When thoughts become tangible, they can touch people.

The intention was not to sell the book to a large readership. In a first edition, only 75 copies were printed but it turned out to be a success and three additional editions of 75 copies followed. In total, we have already printed 300 copies. All proceeds go to Kom Op Tegen Kanker (Stand Up Against Cancer). A beautiful example of how printed matter brings emotions to life and can be of inestimable, tangible value to people.
